Build your ER/IR capability within a supportive national team handling investigations, Fair Work matters and complex advisory work.
About our client
Our client is a national not-for-profit organisation operating within a complex, highly regulated environment supporting communities across Australia. The People & Culture function is continuing to evolve and strengthen its employee relations capability, with a strong focus on practical advice, risk mitigation, leadership support and operational consistency.
An opportunity now exists for an Employee Relations Specialist to join a collaborative and highly supportive team environment where mentorship, technical development and genuine growth in ER/IR capability will be provided.
About the Role
This role will sit within the Employee Relations function and work closely with the ER Manager and broader HR Business Partnering team to support operational ER matters across the organisation.
The position will suit someone who genuinely enjoys the technical side of HR and is looking to deepen their experience across employee relations, workplace investigations and industrial relations advisory.
While support and mentoring will be provided, the successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and managing a high volume of operational matters with attention to detail and sound judgement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day employee relations and policy advice to leaders and HR stakeholders
- Support workplace investigations ranging from low to moderate complexity matters
- Assist with performance management, disciplinary processes and termination matters
- Prepare correspondence including performance letters, outcome letters and termination documentation
- Assess ER and unfair dismissal risk relating to employment decisions
- Support Fair Work Commission matters including conciliations under guidance
- Partner with HR Business Partners to provide practical and commercially sound ER advice
- Interpret awards, legislation, policies and procedures across a multi-site workforce
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across ER processes and documentation.
About you
You are someone who genuinely enjoys the technical side of employee relations and industrial relations and are looking to continue deepening your expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment. You may currently be working as an Employee Relations Advisor, Workplace Relations Advisor, ER/IR Specialist or within a workplace advisory or consulting environment where you have gained hands on exposure to investigations, disciplinary matters, performance management, policy interpretation and employment legislation.
You will hold tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business, Law or a related discipline, with a strong foundational understanding of Australian employment legislation, modern awards and Fair Work processes. Candidates who have completed postgraduate studies or additional professional development within employee relations, industrial relations or workplace law will be highly regarded.
You are confident managing operational ER matters, drafting correspondence, interpreting awards and providing practical advice to stakeholders, while also recognising there is still room to continue building your technical capability. Exposure to Fair Work matters, conciliations, unfair dismissal processes or workplace investigations will be highly regarded, however mentorship and guidance will be provided by an experienced ER leader.
This role will suit someone who is curious, resilient, solutions focused and enjoys working in a fast paced environment where no two days look the same. Strong written communication, sound judgement and the ability to build credibility with HR Business Partners and operational leaders will be key to your success. Experience within consulting, advisory, unionised or highly regulated environments will also be highly regarded.
Why MOVE?
This is a genuine opportunity to deepen your employee relations and industrial relations capability within a highly supportive and collaborative environment. You will work closely with an experienced ER leader who is passionate about mentoring and developing technical capability, giving you exposure to complex ER matters, Fair Work processes, investigations and risk advisory that will significantly strengthen your long term career trajectory.
The organisation offers flexibility with a hybrid working model, a values driven culture and the opportunity to work within a nationally recognised organisation that genuinely prioritises people, leadership and community impact. You will be joining a team that is approachable, down to earth and highly collaborative, where you will be supported to learn, contribute and build confidence within a specialist ER function.
