Lead ER/IR, WHS and Wellbeing nationally, stabilising risk and lifting capability in a fast-paced, regulated, values-driven environment.
About the Company
Kanda Care is a purpose-led, national provider of disability & NDIS support, children, youth & family services, aged home care, veteran care and community nursing operating across multiple Australian states. The organisation supports vulnerable individuals and communities through complex, highly regulated services and is driven by a genuine commitment to safety, wellbeing and quality care. Kanda is a for-purpose organisation, balancing strong values with accountability, discipline and sustainable growth.
About the Role
Kanda Care is seeking an experienced Head of Employee Relations & Safety to lead its employment relations, workplace safety and employee wellbeing portfolio during a period of transformation, integration and uplift. This role forms part of the Corporate Services Senior Leadership Team and works closely with the Executive, providing trusted advice on high-risk, sensitive and organisation-wide matters.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role that brings together ER, WHS and wellbeing into a single, strategically aligned portfolio. You will work in close partnership with the Quality and Risk team, particularly in relation to enterprise risk, safeguarding and psychosocial safety. While the role does not sit on the Executive team, it has strong executive exposure and plays a critical role in shaping risk, governance and people outcomes across a geographically dispersed workforce.
Success in this role will come from your ability to stabilise risk, uplift internal capability and translate complex legislative and regulatory requirements into practical, workable solutions. You will be comfortable operating across both strategy and execution, providing clarity and momentum in environments where systems are evolving, and expectations are high.
About You
You are a pragmatic, commercially minded leader with deep experience across employment relations and workplace health and safety in complex, multi-site, service-based environments. You are comfortable operating where systems are still evolving, navigating ambiguity and delivering outcomes without waiting for ideal conditions, perfect data or large-scale platforms.
You bring confidence and credibility when engaging with regulators, external advisors and senior leaders, and you remain calm, visible and decisive during audits, inspections, investigations and improvement processes. You have successfully engaged employees at all levels to drive a safety-first culture. You have led complex ER and IR matters including investigations, performance management, restructures and consultation processes, and you understand how to balance legal compliance with sound judgement and human impact.
Your leadership style is low-ego, solutions-focused and grounded in accountability. You value progress over perfection and are known for lifting capability through coaching, clarity and structure rather than control. You enjoy rolling up your sleeves, setting direction and creating momentum, particularly in environments where expectations are high, and resources are finite.
You also bring a strong understanding of psychosocial risk and employee wellbeing, with the ability to address these areas practically within operational settings. Above all, you are motivated by creating safer, more sustainable workplaces and are genuinely committed to the safety and wellbeing of both employees and the vulnerable communities the organisation supports.
Why Move?
This is a genuinely new leadership opportunity where you will shape how ER/IR, WHS and Wellbeing operate together, rather than inherit legacy frameworks. You’ll have the autonomy to influence structure, set direction, and drive meaningful change from day one.
With executive exposure, flexibility in how you work, and the ability to lead through complexity, this role suits a leader who wants to make a visible impact — stabilising risk, uplifting teams, and embedding sustainable people and safety practices across the organisation.
