Join a busy payroll team supporting a growing organisation through operational change and continued expansion.
About our client
We are partnering with a growing organisation within the disability and community services sector that is continuing to expand across Queensland through acquisition activity and ongoing operational growth.
With employee numbers continuing to increase, the organisation is focused on strengthening its corporate services capability and ensuring the right operational support structures are in place across finance and payroll.
About the Role
This newly created Payroll Manager position will support the business through a busy and evolving period of growth.
Leading a small payroll team, you will oversee payroll operations across a large workforce while acting as the escalation point for complex payroll queries, award interpretation and compliance matters.
A strong focus of the role sits around SCHADS Award interpretation and application, alongside mentoring and supporting the wider payroll team, improving processes and helping create greater operational efficiencies across the function.
The business has recently transitioned from weekly to fortnightly payroll and is continuing to build capability and structure within the finance team, making this a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operations while still leading from the front.
About You
You are an experienced Payroll Manager or Team Leader who enjoys working within busy, fast-paced environments where teamwork, accountability and problem solving are highly valued.
You bring strong SCHADS Award interpretation experience and are confident managing complex payroll queries across large workforces. Alongside your technical capability, you are someone who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes and building trusted working relationships across the business.
You are calm under pressure, approachable in your communication style and able to work autonomously while still collaborating closely with leadership and wider teams.
Why Move?
This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation during a genuinely exciting phase of expansion and transformation. With significant acquisition activity underway and employee numbers continuing to grow, this role offers the chance to step into a highly visible leadership position where you can make a real operational impact. You’ll work alongside approachable and collaborative leaders who value autonomy, accountability and continuous improvement, while also having the opportunity to mentor and uplift a developing payroll team. For someone who enjoys complex payroll environments, solving problems, improving processes and being embedded within a fast-paced business, this role offers both challenge and long-term scope.
Culture Fit
This role will suit someone who enjoys being part of a growing business where everyone is still very hands on and working closely together. The leadership team values people who take ownership, genuinely care about getting things right and are comfortable rolling up their sleeves when needed.
The environment is busy and evolving, so adaptability, resilience and a practical mindset are important. In return, you’ll be joining a supportive and approachable leadership group who value collaboration, trust and open communication.
Why Move?
This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to step into a visible and valued payroll leadership role within a growing organisation where there is genuine opportunity to contribute beyond just processing payroll.
You’ll have the chance to work closely with approachable leaders, support capability uplift within the payroll team and help improve processes during an important period of operational growth. For someone who enjoys variety, ownership and being part of a business that is continuing to evolve, this role offers strong long-term potential and the opportunity to genuinely make your mark.
