Hands-on People & Culture role supporting leaders across a complex, multi-site operational business with strong ER, performance and coaching focus.
About the Company
Our client is a large, Australian-based organisation operating across multiple sites with a diverse workforce spanning both blue-collar and corporate environments. The business is operational at its core, with leaders who are hands-on and closely connected to their teams. There is a strong emphasis on consistency, fairness and doing things properly, alongside a genuine commitment to developing leaders and improving the employee experience across the full lifecycle.
The organisation values long-term relationships, loyalty and follow-through. Many employees build lasting careers here, and the People & Culture function plays an important role in supporting that through practical advice, strong governance and a visible, embedded approach to partnering with the business.
About the Role
This is a true People & Culture Business Partner role, based in Brisbane, supporting senior leaders, managers and frontline supervisors across a multi-site operational environment. You will partner closely with leaders on a day-to-day basis, providing practical, fit-for-purpose advice across the full employee lifecycle while also helping to lift capability and confidence in people leadership.
A key focus of the role is employee relations and performance management. You will coach leaders through complex and sometimes sensitive situations, support investigations and outcomes when required, and ensure due process is followed in a way that is fair, consistent and commercially sound. Just as important is your ability to step in early — guiding leaders through conversations, setting clear expectations, and helping prevent issues from escalating unnecessarily.
Given the geographic spread of the business, the role includes occasional travel to regional locations to support leaders on the ground, build relationships, and gain a deeper understanding of site-based operations. This travel is purposeful and planned and is seen as an important part of being genuinely embedded in the business rather than supporting from a distance.
Beyond ER and advisory work, the role contributes to broader people initiatives including engagement, succession planning, workforce structure, onboarding, remuneration processes, performance development, and change management. You’ll work closely with recruitment, learning and development, safety and compliance teams to ensure people practices align with business needs and legislative requirements.
About You
You are an experienced HR or People & Culture professional with a strong foundation across employee relations, performance management and generalist HR. You’re comfortable operating in fast-paced, operational environments and working with leaders at different levels, including those who have stepped into leadership from frontline roles.
You bring sound judgement and emotional intelligence to your work and are confident influencing leaders through coaching rather than command-and-control. You understand the importance of policy, process and compliance, but you’re equally aware that outcomes depend on relationships, credibility and how advice is delivered. You’re organised, commercially aware, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a calm, solutions-focused approach.
Experience in multi-site, blue-collar or mixed workforce environments will be highly regarded, as will your willingness to spend time on site when needed to build trust and context. Most importantly, you care about doing the work properly and supporting leaders to do the same.
Why Move?
This is an opportunity to join a stable, values-driven organisation where People & Culture is embedded in the business and respected for its contribution. You’ll work with leaders who are invested in improving how they lead and will be supported by a team that values collaboration, consistency and development.
The business offers a flexible working environment built on trust and give-and-take. Following an initial onboarding period, there is scope to work from home one day per week, balanced with time in the office and on site to support the needs of the role and the wider team.
The role offers a competitive salary aligned to experience, a Brisbane base with practical onsite benefits, and genuine scope to grow as the function continues to evolve.
