The People & Culture function is evolving, with a focus on strengthening leadership capability, improving people practices and building closer connections across the organisation.

This permanent Brisbane opportunity combines hands-on employee relations with practical business partnering. Supporting an allocated portfolio, you will build trusted relationships with leaders, guide them through challenging people matters and help develop their confidence and capability.

Employee relations is a substantial part of the role. You will manage matters from initial advice through to documentation and follow-up, including performance, conduct, grievances and investigations. You will bring sound judgement, take ownership of your work and recognise when a matter requires senior guidance or escalation.

Alongside your casework, you will coach managers, facilitate training and contribute to policy and process improvements. As the business partnering model develops, you will also support initiatives such as succession planning, engagement survey action planning and manager education, working with colleagues across the broader People & Culture function.

You are an experienced HR practitioner with demonstrated capability in managing employee relations matters independently. You may already be a Business Partner or a capable Senior HR Adviser ready to take on broader portfolio responsibility.

You can explain complex matters clearly, provide practical advice and constructively challenge a manager when needed. Your experience includes applying relevant legislation, industrial instruments and organisational policies, supported by accurate documentation and careful consideration of risk.

You are comfortable facilitating training, coaching leaders and helping people put advice into practice. You organise competing priorities effectively and are willing to manage the operational detail that supports a well-run portfolio.

Experience in aged care, community services or another complex, regulated environment would be valuable.

You are approachable, practical and comfortable taking ownership. You make the effort to connect with colleagues and stakeholders, follow through on commitments and ask questions when something is unclear.

You enjoy working independently while remaining connected to your team. You are comfortable contributing in an environment where processes and ways of working are still developing, and you bring the patience and initiative to help improve them.

The role offers hybrid working, with two days from home and three days in the office, including a shared Thursday team day. A car allowance supports portfolio-related travel, with site visits providing opportunities to build relationships and understand the services you support.

You will have regular check-ins with your manager, access to senior ER guidance and opportunities to contribute to manager education and broader people initiatives as the partnering model develops.
