Seasoned HR Generalist with strong ER/IR and WHS exposure to lead HR, build capability and support safety in a growing purpose-driven organisation.
About Our Client
Join a rapidly expanding, purpose-driven organisation dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable young people across Queensland. With service streams spanning residential care, disability, allied health, and foster and kinship care, the organisation has more than doubled in size over the past two years and continues to grow at pace. Guided by strong cultural identity, First Nations leadership, and a genuinely human-centred mission, the organisation strives to create safe, empowering and life-changing environments for children, families and communities. This is a workplace where purpose is lived daily, where passion meets impact, and where people with courage and heart thrive.
About the Role
This newly created People & Culture and Workplace Health & Safety Advisor role offers the opportunity to step into a pivotal, high-impact position at a time of significant organisational growth. Reporting to a supportive and empowering senior leader, you will play a key role in building capability, strengthening foundations and driving consistent, values-aligned practice across a multi-site environment.
Your remit will span IR/ER case management, performance frameworks, policy development and the rollout of ER/IR training across the business. You will oversee WHS and psychosocial risk, act as a key contact for WorkSafe and WorkCover matters and support operational leaders in responding to critical Child Safety incidents where priorities may shift rapidly. Working closely with internal recruitment, quality and compliance, operations and cultural practice teams, you will help uplift leadership capability, embed strong processes and contribute to building a safe, high-functioning organisation.
This role calls for a seasoned HR generalist with strong IR/ER depth, sound judgement, emotional maturity and the ability to balance kindness with firm decision-making. You will also act as a key support for the Head of People & Culture and step into delegated responsibilities during periods of leave. Occasional travel to service locations is required, though generally short and intermittent.
About You
You are an experienced People & Culture professional with strong foundations in IR/ER, performance, investigations and policy. Comfortable navigating complexity and rapid operational change, you bring a calm, steady presence and the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders. Ideally, you have worked in child safety, community services, disability, NDIS, residential care or similarly regulated environments where compliance, trauma-informed practice and operational agility are essential.
You communicate with clarity, warmth and confidence, and you know how to coach and uplift managers with varying levels of capability. You can balance firm boundaries with genuine care, and you thrive in environments where no two days are the same. Most importantly, you bring a heart for purpose-driven work and the resilience to support teams dealing with challenging and sometimes confronting situations.
Why Move?
You’ll be joining an organisation that genuinely lives its purpose — a values-led, culturally grounded environment where people are trusted, supported and encouraged to grow. With major projects underway and significant year-on-year expansion, this is a place where you can shape meaningful change and enjoy real autonomy under a leader who empowers rather than micromanages. Employees benefit from an attractive salary package enhanced by not-for-profit salary packaging, along with a convenient location just five minutes from Central Station, making the commute simple and cost-effective. The culture is warm, purposeful and impact-driven, offering you the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people while developing your career in a high-growth organisation that values capability, kindness and contribution.
