Newly designed WHS Advisor position with a focus on stakeholder engagement and the ability to coach, influence and build capability.
Our client is a for purpose, not-for-profit organisation who provide a wide range of social, community and health services within Queensland. In this newly designed role, you will be reporting to the Health & Safety Manager and provide WHS advice and support organisation wide. You will also assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of WHS management systems including document management and hazard/incident reporting. • Facilitate workplace inspections, internal audits and risk assessments. • Support (sometimes lead) the investigation process whilst providing coaching and mentoring to managers on assessment processes. • Actively observe sites to identify opportunities to coach leaders in the identification of hazards and encourage them to identify suitable controls. • Investigate WHS incidents in accordance with the Incident Management and Investigation Procedures and monitor incident data. • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual WHS statistics and reports. • Utilise data metrics and trends to help facilitate leadership conversations and direction. • Provide support for the management of the WHSMS documentation, ensuring legislative requirements are met. • Participate and or lead any other ad hoc WHS projects.
To be successful in this role you will have a minimum 3 years’ experience working in a similar role. You will have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation, code of practice, applicable Australian Standards and industry guidelines and be familiar with building fire and safety. You will hold a relevant qualification in Health and Safety and ideally gained your experience working within communities, aged or health care, with multisite responsibility. You will be need be empathetic and attentive in dealing with internal and external stakeholder requirements and have the ability to influence and motivate when required. You are a quick thinker with ability to travel to sites to support and undertake WHS work, as necessary. Understanding of safety management systems and their application within an organisation is a must. The ability to obtain a Blue card and clear Police check will form part of your ability to commence in this role.
